It can be hard finding work as a freelance writer. As a result of this many turn to freelance websites freelance writers.
such as Upwork, Freelancer, or Guru. I know I did when I first started out writing. I am not saying you shouldn’t ever use these sites. These sites do have their perks. But when it comes to writing jobs these sites have a long way to go. Based on my experiences I do not recommend them. Here’s why:
Too much competition
You don’t get credit for the work
Clients on freelance sites don’t give clear directions
They don’t hire you as an ongoing writer
As a writer you want security. You have your own bills to pay. You have to put food on the table. You can’t do that with one time jobs. It puts you in the position where you constantly have to look for clients. That is exactly what freelancing sites want. Freelance sites want you to constantly look and book clients. It’s how they make their money.
It is way to exhausting to constantly be looking for writing jobs. Your goal is to get a writing job where you either write daily or weekly. Not sparingly.
