Why does keyword research matter?

Keyword research is important because it helps you to figure out what to write about.

You get a good idea of what your audience is searching for. The right keywords can boost traffic to your blog.

Doing keyword research will help you to see if a keyword is too competitive or not. You’ll see important stats like search volume.

Without keyword research, you’re basically playing the guessing game. A free keyword research tool can really help you.

Why should I bother with SEO when it takes too long to rank?

I know many beginner bloggers think this way. They think what’s the point when it takes too long. While this may be true for Google it’s not true for every search engine.

Google isn’t the only search engine. You could rank easier and faster on Bing or Yahoo. This is what happened with my newer blog. It has less than 15 posts.

Yet I was able to get search engine traffic from Bing. I’ve had this blog for only a year. Look at the screenshot below.

Why can’t I just use Pinterest?

There’s nothing wrong with using Pinterest for blog traffic. But the reality is Pinterest has changed. It’s not the platform it was just 2 years ago. The days where you can get lots of blog traffic from Pinterest instantly are gone.

Pinterest is now looking out for them more than bloggers and content creators. They’re trying to be more like Instagram.

They don’t want users to leave their platform. That’s why they rolled out Idea pins.

It’s never a good idea to rely on one source for all of your blog traffic. That’s why I recommend getting started with SEO.

Many six-figure bloggers implement SEO. I even know one who says that most of her product sales come from Google search traffic.

How do I do keyword research?

The two most important stats you’ll look at are competition and search volume. The goal is to look for keywords that have a good or high search volume and low competition. If the competition is too high skip it.

It will be too hard to improve your ranking unless you have high domain authority. If you don’t know this Moz shows you your domain authority for free.

A free tool for keyword research can make this a lot easier. It will show you keyword data so you aren’t trying to guess.

If you are clueless when it comes to SEO, I recommend this SEO course. It’s one of the best courses I’ve ever taken. You’ll learn how to set up your blog for SEO success. It’s perfect for beginners.

What is the best free keyword tool?

In my opinion, the best free keyword research tool for SEO is Serpstat. It’s one of the few that has a completely free option. It’s not a free 14-day trial. You can have a free account forever.

They have so many features that you can use for free. For example, you get up to 10 searches for free. Whereas with Ubersuggest you only get 3.

Can’t I use Google Keyword Planner Only?

You could do that. There’s nothing wrong with it. But I like to use Serpstat and Google keyword planner.

You’ll get more keyword ideas with Google Keyword planner. But Serpstat has features that Google keyword planner doesn’t.

How to use Serpstat for keyword research

Once you type in your keyword into Serptstat you’ll see a list of keywords. Serpstat shows you the volume, how competitive the keyword is, and more.

But none of that does any good when you aren’t sure what to look for. You’re going to look for a keyword that’s low competition and has a good search volume.

What I love about Serpstat is that you can even see what keywords your competitors rank for. All you have to do is enter their URL.

Unlike Ubersuggest, you get up to ten daily searches a day. Check out Serptstat for yourself. No trial signups here. It’s totally free.

Finding the best free keyword tool can be tricky. But it’s so important if you want search engine traffic. The best free keyword research tool will show you search volume, competition level for a keyword, and more.

Serpstat does all of this. I love that you can have a free account forever. No free trial. WordStream listed it as one of the best keyword SEO tools.

If you want to start increasing organic search engine traffic to your blog signup for Serpstat.
